A black doctor died of coronavirus two weeks after saying he was not treated properly because of his race.

Dr. Susan Moore said she was forced to “request” treatment at Indiana University North Hospital in Indianapolis, United States, after being told to go home.

“This is how black people die,” he said in a heartbreaking video earlier this month.

“When you send them home and they don’t know how to fight for themselves.”

Tragically, the virus took his life Sunday at the age of 52.

The hospital is investigating the accusation of racism, but says in a statement it “supports” the quality of care provided by its staff.

Dr Susan Moore said she was made to feel ‘like a drug addict’ and had to ‘beg’ for treatment

Describing her ordeal in a Facebook post on December 4, Dr. Moore said that a white doctor had made her feel “like a drug addict” when he described that she was in pain while struggling to breathe.

She said, “He didn’t even listen to my lungs, he didn’t touch me in any way.

“He didn’t do a physical exam. I told him he can’t tell me how I feel.”

Dr. Moore said that she had asked for the Remdesivir drug and had her chest scanned, but claimed that she was told it did not qualify.

In a heartbreaking video, Dr. Moore said that she had not been properly treated due to her race.

“It made me feel like I was a drug addict,” continues her heartbreaking video.

“And he knew I was a doctor. I don’t take narcotics. He was suffering.”

She added: “I put forward and maintain that if I were white, I wouldn’t have to go through that.”

On December 7, after she was discharged, Dr. Moore posted: “Those people were trying to kill me. Clearly, everyone has to agree that they (discharged me) too soon.”

She was later readmitted to another hospital, where she said the quality of care had improved, but doctors were unable to save her life.

Dr. Moore has been described as a ‘phenomenal’ physician

In a statement, the hospital said: “As an organization committed to equity and the reduction of racial disparities in healthcare, we take allegations of discrimination very seriously and investigate all allegations.

“We stand behind the commitment and expertise of our caregivers and the quality of care that is provided to our patients every day.”

A Go Fund Me page has been created to support your family.

Organizers Alicia Sanders and Rashad Elby wrote: “Dr. Susan Moore, a physician based in Indianapolis, experienced an untimely death.

“She had been battling COVID for the past few weeks. She leaves behind a 19-year-old son and his parents, both of whom have dementia. The son is dealing with both situations right now and is in a good mood.

“Susan was a phenomenal doctor. She loved practicing medicine, she loved being a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, she loved helping people and she was unapologetic about it.

“This fundraiser is to help her family with their immediate needs, which are currently food and shelter, as she was the sole provider for her son and his parents.”
