Hakim Ziyech’s return from injury has been delayed.
The Chelsea midfielder, who has enjoyed an impressive start to his life in West London following his £ 33.4m summer transfer from Ajax, has been ruled out of the Boxing Day match against Arsenal.
Ziyech has yet to fully recover from the hamstring injury suffered in a 3-1 win over Leeds United earlier this month, which left him with a limp in the first half.
He returned to training before the 3-0 win over West Ham United, but took no chances on Monday night.

And as Blues head coach Frank Lampard revealed, Ziyech will not be available for the weekend trip to Emirates Stadium or Aston Villa visit 48 hours later.
“No, he will not be fit for Arsenal,” confirmed Lampard in his pre-match press conference.
“He had a knee injury at the beginning of the season and now he has a muscle injury. You have to wait to recover.
“It is not a long-term concern and we hope to have it back in the next week.
“And I hope he can offer what he did before because he was offering great things.
“We missed it in a way, but that’s football, that’s the squad and that’s what happens when players play at a high level every two or three days.”
Following the confirmation of the blow from the wound, Ziyech has been active on social media.
Although, it was not to discuss a possible comeback date, but to highlight her special bond with her summer partner, Edouard Mendy.
On Instagram, Ziyech uploaded a video of him and Mendy having fun, presumably in the canteen at the club’s Cobham training base.

While Ziyech won’t be playing any role against the Gunners, Lampard is hopeful for better news about Ben Chilwell and Reece James.
The latter missed the 3-0 victory over West Ham United with a knee injury, while the former limped off early with a sprained right ankle.
