Kate Middleton and Prince William thank key workers
Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William have been attacked after attending an outdoor event with their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The family of five was photographed walking near Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, Prince Edward, Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn at Luminate, a Christmas light show at Sandringham.
The member of the public who took the photographs claimed to have seen the two royal houses “mingling” on more than one occasion and accused the royals of violating the Norfolk rule of six.
A source in Sandringham, where Kate and William have their second home, Anmer Hall, explained that the Cambridges and Wessexes came to the event at two separate parties and did not intend to attend together.
Emphasizing that the families were given “separate spaces,” the source said: “The two families were given consecutive separate spaces to visit the trail just before it opened to the general public.
“They came and went in their own family groups.”

However, the source admitted that there may be times when the nine people grew closer than they intended due to bottleneck areas and lively children within their parties.
They added: “As anyone with young children will know, there were times in the 90-minute walk when it was difficult to keep the two family groups apart, especially at bottlenecks along the way.”
A visitor to the light show who saw the Cambridges and Wessexes told the Daily Mail: “In my opinion, they were clearly breaking Covid rules because there were nine of them from two separate households.

“Obviously everyone was having a fun night. You could tell the real kids were having a lot of fun.
“But I couldn’t help but think it was a rule for them and another for the rest of us. It was really quite cheeky.”

Current government regulations for Level 2 areas allow a maximum of six people, including children, from different households to gather in the open air.
The rule said: “You can see friends and family you don’t live with (or don’t have a bubble of support with) outdoors, in a group of no more than six.
“This limit of six includes children of any age.”

Individuals who break the rule of six face a fine of £ 200 for the first offense, which is doubled for each offense up to £ 6,400.
Kate and Prince William were recently criticized by some politicians and members of the public for traveling across Britain with their Royal Train Tour.
The couple visited Scotland, Wales and England between December 6 and 8.
Travel restrictions in effect at the time prohibited people from crossing the borders of nations unless for essential reasons and for work reasons.

Scotland’s Prime Minister Nicola Sturgeon said she made clear to the palace the regulations in force in her country before the tour began.
And Vaughan Gething, the Welsh Minister of Health, told BBC Radio 4 before Cambridges arrived in Cardiff: “I would prefer that no one had unnecessary visits, and people always have divisive views on the monarchy.
“But your visit is not an excuse for people to say that they are confused about what they are being asked to do.”
