Tariq Lamptey (£ 4.8 million) lost for the second time in three weeks of play when Brighton faces Sheffield United at home.
After a hamstring problem prevented the defender from taking chances in Gameweek 12, Lamptey suffered a blow during Gameweek 13’s draw away from Fulham. Speaking before Sunday’s early start, Graham Potter reported:
Tariq has a slight problem with his hamstring, so he is out of the game.
It’s the third game of the week for Danny Welbeck, so we could use it at the end of today’s game, rather than at the beginning.
With Steven Alzate, it’s a quick change and he hasn’t played much football lately. So we brought Neal [Maupay], Aaron [Connolly] and joel [Veltman] en, they have done well for us and we are looking forward to the game.
In his pre-game press conference on Friday, Potter had said about right-back Lamptey:
Tariq Lamptey has recovered well from Wednesday. We took him out by a little bump, but we will make a decision between now and Sunday.
Shape-shifting Potter appears to be going for three at Gameweek 14, coinciding with the regular line-up for Sheffield United.
Danny Welbeck (£ 5.5m) is demoted to the bank, with one of Neal maupay (£ 6.1 million) or Aaron Connolly (£ 5.3m) ready to lead a fluid line of attack from the Gaviotas. Steven get up (4.3 million pounds sterling) is the other play that is withdrawn in the middle of the week.
Robert Sanchez (£ 4.4 million) continues at the finish line after taking the place of Mat ryan (4.4 million pounds) in the middle of the week. Jason steele (£ 4 million) is Potter’s preferred reserve goalkeeper choice. In his post-Fulham interview, the Brighton manager explained:
I made the decision to go with rob [in GW13], it has some amazing attributes that we wanted to use. He will do it [keep the spot ahead of Mat Ryan]. He earned his spot on merit and on how he’s worked and I think his performance was good tonight. [vs Fulham].
Jason Steele, I think he plays the role of number two very well, that’s where we are.
Potter added on Sunday:
Robert Sánchez has all the attributes to be a great goalkeeper, the only thing he lacks is game and experience. It is our job to help you.
For the swords, Sander Mountains (£ 5.0 million) is offside due to a hamstring injury. Oli McBurnie (£ 5.6m) remains absent with a shoulder problem.
Economic hero of yesteryear John lundstram (£ 5.0m) has been recruited by Chris Wilder to replace Norwegian Berge.
Rhian Brewster (£ 4.5m) wins a start-up along with David mcgoldrick (£ 5.2 million), as an economic midfielder Oliver Burke (£ 4.3 million) falls to the substitute bank.
It’s the first time Brewster has been in Wilder’s starting lineup since a 62-minute performance during the Gameweek 8 loss to Chelsea. On the forward, the Blades boss said:
He’s been knocking on the door. It has been difficult to choose the side, the players get it right now because nobody is really raising their hand and forcing the issue.
I’ve been looking at different ways … be it the staff or the system or whatever.
The moment now is for him [Brewster] to play in this game.
