Arsenal couple in heated argument on the pitch during the latest sad loss to Everton

Arsenal suffered their last Premier League defeat to Everton on Saturday when Carlo Ancelotti’s side proved they are going in a different direction than Mikel Arteta.

The two managers were appointed at similar times around this time last year, but while seasoned boss Ancelotti has gotten the Everton players to buy what he wants to do, rookie manager Arteta faces a crisis in North London.

The former Everton and Arsenal midfielder presided over an eighth defeat in just 14 Premier League games this season at Goodison Park on Saturday, where the hosts won 2-1 to move to second place in the table.

Everton took the lead when an effort by Dominic Calvert-Lewin deflected visiting defender Rob Holding, but the Gunners tied on a Nicolas Pepe penalty.

Luiz is said to have been unhappy with Elneny’s passing during the match.

However, just as they seemed to be heading into halftime after being back in play, Yerry Mina headed what turned out to be the winner from a corner at the edge of the break.

The game exposed some of Arsenal’s shortcomings, with one moment in particular picked up by Mail Online and cited as an example of how bad things have gotten.

They saw an exchange between David Luiz and Mohamed Elneny just before the break when the Brazilian could be seen arguing with the Egyptian midfielder for returning the ball to him instead of looking forward.

The Egyptian was reprimanded by Luiz for not playing the ball from the forwards

With the incident described as the ‘lowest point’ of the loss, Luiz and Elneny’s disagreement is said to have continued throughout the match, with the Brazilian even often overlooking his teammate when looking for someone to pass.

Arteta is sure to be disappointed in two of his veteran players if that were the case, as the Gunners’ season continues to spiral downward.

Arsenal will slide to 16th place on Sunday if Brighton beats last Sheffield United.
