Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the notable absentee from Arsenal’s team of the day to face Everton on Saturday.

The forward has struggled to stay fit this season, but scored his first goal in two months during the Gunners’ midweek draw with Southampton.

When asked about Aubameyang’s injury, Mikel Arteta told Sky Sports: “Aubameyang has a small muscle injury. We have to evaluate it (for Chelsea), but it could not be fit for today.

Gabriel Martinelli also came back from a long injury layoff to bench for Mikel Arteta’s team.

Willian and David Luiz also returned to Arsenal as starters, while Emile Smith Rowe was named to the bench.

The north London team hope to end their six-match winless streak in the Premier League when they face the Toffees in form. LIVE on talkSPORT from 5.30pm.

Xhaka is serving a three-game penalty for grabbing Ashley Westwood by the neck in last weekend’s loss to Burnley, while Gabriel received a second yellow card after defeating Theo Walcott in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Southampton.

Alex Iwobi was also named to Everton’s starting eleven while lining up against his former team.

The Toffees made two changes with Jordan Pickford returning in goal and Tom Davies replacing injured midfielder Allan, with Seamus Coleman back on the team after two months out.
