Edinson Cavani: FA accuses Manchester United striker of aggravated rule violation by social media post | Football news

[ad_1]

Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani was indicted by the Football Association (FA) for a post on social media last month.

The 33-year-old shared a fan Instagram story featuring a racially offensive term after United’s 3-2 win at Southampton. Since then, the post has been removed.

United stressed that the word was clearly used in an affectionate way and has different connotations in Cavani’s home country of Uruguay.

But the FA has seen fit to accuse the forward of a breach of its Rule E3, claiming that his publication was “insulting and / or abusive and / or inappropriate and / or discredited the game.

“It is further alleged that the comment constitutes an aggravated violation, which is defined in Rule FA E3.2, as it included a reference, either express or implied, to color and / or race and / or ethnic origin.”
