Kieran Tierney doesn’t think he and his Arsenal teammates are helping Mikel Arteta as he continues his bad form.
The Gunners lost to Burnley at the Emirates, their fourth consecutive home defeat in the Premier League.
The pressure is mounting on Arteta as Arsenal remain in the bottom half, just five points above the relegation zone.
Tierney admits there are small signs of improvement, but not enough to revive his season and that it’s up to them to restore his manager’s faith.
He said on Sky Sports: “We are not showing the manager what we can do and how much we believe in him.
“In every game there are signs that we are doing a little better, but it is still not good enough. At half time we have to lead, but we are not doing it.
Arsenal’s task against Burnley became more difficult after Granit Xhaka was sent off in the second half.
The Swiss midfielder was fired for violent conduct with the Gunners on the rise.
But Tierney isn’t convinced that going down to ten men is crucial to his defeat.
“It is difficult to say that the red card cost us the game,” he added. “It was always going to be much more difficult.”
However, the Scottish defender wanted to refer to Arteta as a “great coach” and challenged the players to find the winning formula.
He continued: “Hard work is the only thing [that can fix this], nothing more for it. There are no excuses. There is nothing I can say that makes people believe that something positive is going to come out of this.
“We are lucky to have a great coach. We just have to show ourselves better on the pitch.”
