A 15-year-old boy died after being stabbed in east London and a murder investigation was launched, metropolitan police said.

Officers were called just before 7 p.m. Friday following reports of a stabbing on Woodman Street near Royal Docks in Newham. Police and members of the London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended and found the teenager injured. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Metropolitan Police said that his closest relatives have been informed and the circumstances are being investigated. There have been no arrests.

A neighbor, Lawrence Adu, said he had seen the 15-year-old boy early Friday and was friends with the boy’s uncle and had known him “for a lifetime.

“I just got home, I’m so surprised,” Adu said. “He is a nice young man, very handsome and always laughing.”
