Former EastEnders Cast members Patsy Palmer and Shane Richie were in tears as they paid tribute to their beloved co-star Dame Barbara Windsor at The only show.

The soap opera stars joined Alex Jones for a half-hour greeting to the late actress Peggy Mitchell on Friday night (December 11), following the announcement that she had passed away the day before in a London nursing home after from a long battle against Alzheimer’s disease.

It was a deeply emotional conversation, with Patsy and Shane especially excited afterward. The only show aired a VT highlighting Dame Barbara’s iconic legacy behind the bar in Vic.

After assuring Shane that he could continue with the interview, Shane explained that he had “so many great memories” with Dame Barbara over the years.

“There are so many memories of being on set and hearing her tell wonderful stories. It’s the material, which I’m sure Patsy agrees with, that it happens off-screen and just sit back and chat,” he recalled. “What a beautiful lady, and how much the show mattered to her.”

Patsy recalled, “She was the ultimate professional. I mean, you know, Shane, she used to get mad at all of us for laughing, but she laughed. She loved to laugh. She was always funny.
