Students and staff have been evacuated from a North London secondary school following a bomb threat.
Officers arrived at Stoke Newington School in Hackney just before 12 p.m. Thursday and were doing a sweep of the building to determine if the threat was legitimate.
Worried parents arrived to pick up their children.
Video posted on social media shows students and staff walking past police cars parked outside the school, where officers cut down an area.
The students were taken to a park near the school while police investigated the threat. The Hackney City Council later announced that the school, which has about 1,630 students, would be closing early that day.
The Clissold Leisure Center, across the street from the school, was also closed as the local road was sealed off.

“The school had received a bomb threat. The school was evacuated and the officers are present.
“The laces are in place while the police investigate.”

“Staff and students have been evacuated and police are completing building checks.
“Clissold Road and Clissold Leisure Center are also closed.
“Please avoid the area while the zipper is in place.”
Concerned parents went to the school to pick up their children after police arrived in the area.
One parent wrote: “@MPSHackney @mayorofhackney what’s going on on SNS ???? We have been told that our children have been evacuated to Clissold Park after an incident at school, but they don’t say what!”
She later added, “I just got a text message and I’m going to pick up my son.
Another parent wrote: “I just received a text message from Stoke Newington School to say the children have been evacuated on the advice of the police …
“Apparently there has been a bomb threat at the school.
“I hope it’s just a despicable joke and nothing more than that.”
A third parent said from memory: “I got a message from my son saying that the police were out of school and everyone had to go to the park.”
And another added: “My son said that everyone is safe in the park, but none of the teachers know what is happening.”
