The two daughters of a man who died in a terrible freeway accident will have to “rebuild their world without their dad in it,” his family said.
The heartbreaking tribute came when police named the man who died in Monday’s crash on the M57 between Junction 4 Kirkby Industrial Estate and Junction 3 Stockbridge Village as 37-year-old Lee Davis.
His grieving family posted a cherished picture of Lee, a “loving father” of two daughters just one and eight years old.
The statement also reveals that Lee was engaged to be married and that his death left his fiancee heartbroken.
Police are continuing to investigate the accident and confirmed Wednesday that a driver, a man in his 60s, had been arrested on suspicion of being involved in a hit-and-run after the Prescot accident.
In a statement, the family said: “Lee Davis, 37, was a loving father to two beautiful girls, one and eight, and his heartbroken fiancee.
“He was such a loving and hardworking man, sadly separated from his family too soon in a tragic accident, with no chance to see his daughters grow up.
“Now they will have to rebuild their world without their dad in it. Lee was deeply loved by all of his family and friends, and they will all miss him deeply.”
Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 2 p.m. Monday after a white Vauxhall Corsa was reported to have left the road.
Lee was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.

A Merseyside police spokesman said: “On Tuesday, December 8, highway patrol officers arrested a 60-year-old man for the crimes of failing to stop at the scene of a traffic collision and failing to report a traffic collision.” .
The man has been released under investigation.
The family of the deceased man is receiving police support and the force yesterday made a new call for witnesses to come forward and anyone with images from the dash cam to get in touch.
Sergeant Ryan Lowry of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “I would like to convey my condolences to the family of the deceased man at this time. The family is being supported by specialized trained officers.
“Our investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing at this time.
“I would like to speak to anyone traveling on the M57 motorway at the time of the collision, as I think other drivers may have seen the white Corsa leave the road.”
“I would also ask anyone who is driving in the area at the time and has a dash cam installed to check the saved images to see if there is anything that can help us with our investigation.”

He added: “In addition, I would appeal to the drivers of a black Vauxhall Astra, a silver Mercedes and a white Citroen Relay pickup, as it is believed that they may have witnessed the collision.”
Traffic came to a halt when an air ambulance landed on the southbound road to assist paramedics, police and firefighters already on the scene.
But despite the work of the officers and ambulance workers, the Corsa driver died at the scene.
The highway remained closed overnight while an investigation was conducted.
