A murderer is on the loose after a trio of inmates escaped from prison.
Derbyshire police officers have made an urgent appeal for information on the three men and are warning the public to stay away from them.
Killer Lewis Daniel Thornton left HMP Sudbury alongside Daniel Gerald Ferris and Rory Allen on Saturday, Derbyshire Live reports.
HMP Sudbury is a Category D jail, which means inmates there are considered a low security risk.
Derbyshire Police have released photographs of the three men and a description of each of them.
The first of the fugitives is Lewis Daniel Thornton, 29, who was convicted of manslaughter at Wolverhampton Crown Court in 2016.
He is white, 6 feet 2 inches tall, with blue eyes, brown hair, and a slim build.
On his right wrist, Thornton has a tattoo of ‘RIP Cobra’, with ‘Angel’ tattooed on his left arm.
Thornton has ties to the Wolverhampton and Walsall areas and should not be approached by the public.
Daniel Gerald Ferris is another of the fugitives.
The 30-year-old was convicted in Birmingham Crown Court of robbery in 2018.
Ferris is white, with blue eyes, brown hair, and is of average build.
Ferris has links to the Birmingham area and should not be approached by the public.
The latest fugitive is Rory Allen, who has been described as black, 6 feet 2 inches tall, with brown eyes, black hair, a black mustache, and a slim build.
The 33-year-old was convicted of being concerned about the supply of cocaine and heroin at Worcester Crown Court in 2018.
Allen has ‘Tug’ tattooed on his right arm and has ties to the Birmingham, Walsall and Wolverhampton areas. It should not be approached by members of the public.
Anyone who sees or knows where any of the men are should call the Derbyshire police immediately at 101, citing reference 906 of December 5.
People can also contact Crimestoppers, which is an anonymous service on 0800 555 111.
According to the Ministry of Justice, category D prisons have minimal security.
The UK Governor’s website states: “These prisons have minimal security and allow eligible prisoners to spend most of the day outside the prison on a license to perform work, education or other resettlement purposes. Prisons Open houses only house inmates who have been at risk – Assessed and deemed suitable for open conditions. “
