Scotland has recorded one coronavirus death and 677 positive tests in the past 24 hours, Nicola Sturgeon said.

With this measure, the death toll (of people who tested positive for the virus for the first time in the previous 28 days) rises to 3,917.

Sturgeon said 100,783 people tested positive in Scotland, up from 100,106 the day before.

The daily rate of positivity of the test is 6.7%, compared to 5.2% the day before.

Of the new cases, 178 are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 114 in Lothian and 103 in Lanarkshire.

974 people in the hospital have been confirmed to have the virus, 23 in 24 hours.

Of these patients, 59 are in intensive care, three fewer.

The Prime Minister said that the Covid-19 vaccine supplies arriving in Scotland are “positive news”.

The jab arrived in Scotland over the weekend before the start of plans to inoculate the country’s most vulnerable this week.

Sturgeon said there will be logistical problems with the distribution of doses of the vaccine.
