The 94-year-old monarch will automatically pre-empt large portions of the population in the queue to receive the vaccine, as she is in the over-80 category. But voters in a new poll have said that the head of state should be treated as a top priority and should have early access to the COVID-19 vaccine “to lead by example.”

Express.co.uk conducted an exclusive poll to gauge readers’ feelings about the possibility of the Queen skipping the lineup and getting her two fixes before anyone else.

Seventy-six percent of those surveyed (1,713) said they would like to see the monarch first in line.

Twenty-two percent (538) said their status shouldn’t mean they get hit before everyone else.

Only two percent (38) said they didn’t know.

In the comments, some readers said they wanted royalty to take the hit first, not as a priority but as guinea pigs.

The person wrote: “The Queen should be followed first by the rest of the Royal Family, then the House of Lords and finally the Commons.

“If they all survive, the populace will know it is safe.”

A second person said that the queen and Prince Philip, 99, should “of course” be ahead of everyone else “out of respect for their position.”

And yet a third person in favor of the Queen being treated as a priority, rejecting other readers’ suggestion that she should be forced to queue.

The reader said, “Don’t be such a fool! The Queen queuing!

“She is already in the most vulnerable group and has the right to receive the vaccine when it is available.”

However, others were skeptical of treating the royal family differently when it comes to administering medical care to vulnerable parts of the population.

One person said that if the queen was given early access to the Pfizer / BioNTech jab, the rest of the British would patiently wait for their morally wrong turn.

The survey was carried out between 12.25 and 11 p.m. on Sunday, December 6, and had the participation of 2,289 people.

On Saturday, NHS workers received the first batches of the Covid vaccine at hospitals, days after the UK drug regulator gave them the go-ahead.

The NHS has given top priority to those over 80, frontline healthcare workers, and nursing home staff and residents.

Each patient will receive two doses of the vaccine and the launch of the mass vaccination plan is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.
