JJ Chalmers became the latest star to leave Strictly Come Dancing tonight.
Prince Harry’s friend and 33-year-old Paralympian JJ narrowly missed a spot in the semifinal tonight after landing at the dance with Jamie Laing and his partner Karen Hauer.
Both couples went back to their routines, with JJ and Amy dancing their Charleston with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Jamie and Karen performing their Jive with Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
The judges subsequently issued their verdicts, with Craig Revel Horwood choosing to save Jamie and Karen and Motsi saving JJ and Amy.
Giving his reasoning, Craig said: “Well, I think both couples danced to the best of their ability and both couples improved their game considerably. But for me, the best couple of the night I would like to advance to the semi-finals: Jamie and Karen.” .
Meanwhile, Motsi said: “In fact, I think we saw two different dance styles that have their own qualities; both energetic, both so good at this dance, a very difficult decision. I saw a little mishap with a dance, so I’m saving JJ and Amy. “
That meant Head Judge Shirley Ballas had to cast the casting vote.
She said: “Both couples improved their game, I loved both performances very much and both couples made little mistakes, both couples.
“But with more powerful and difficult choreography and with sheer determination, I’m going to save Jamie.”
Speaking later, JJ said he was “incredibly proud” of what he and Amy had accomplished.
He said: “I never thought I would go this far, I have become kind of decent, maybe something I had no idea to start with and I have enjoyed every second, it has been a real blast.
“It’s a privilege to be around for so long. I mean this competition is crazy! Being counted among that cast at this particular stage means a lot to me. It means everything. It has been an incredible challenge, out of my comfort zone but I’ve had this to keep me inside and I can’t express what she means to me. “
The Paralympic athlete continued to give an emotional speech to his professional partner while referring to his struggle with Crohn’s disease.
JJ said: “She’s been through a lot in her own right to be fair and I know any day she can wake up and could essentially be hospitalized, so she lives in fear of disappointing people. But the way you built me up, you could never let me down. “.
Then they asked Amy if she had words for JJ and she said: “ Aw JJ, it has been an absolute honor to be your partner and, most importantly, friend, throughout your Strictly experience.
“He is, and everyone would agree, one of the most authentic gentlemen in the world. I honestly believe that by working with JJ over the last few months I have become a better person and have learned a lot.
“The way you face challenges with such strength and determination, you have helped me for the rest of my life to face my own personal challenges. And honestly, I am very proud of every step you have taken on this floor. Simply I had the best time
“I didn’t think I could fall in love with Strictly more and this year my heart is beaming with Strictly and that absolutely depends on everyone and I love everyone.”
