City Center Tower Block Evacuated After Flood – Live Updates

A 15-story tower in Liverpool city center is being evacuated after a “significant flood incident”.

Large numbers of people have been told to leave the Silkhouse Court apartment block on Tithebarn Street tonight.

Fire crews were alerted to the incident just before 5 p.m. today and three fire trucks are present at the scene.

The Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said they arrived to find a water main that exploded on the 12th floor of the building, causing several apartments and common areas to flood, affecting floors from ground to floor. 12.

Fire crews are working on the site now to try to minimize the damage and are evacuating large numbers of residents.
