Beleaguered Neil Lennon insists he does not think his time as Celtic boss is nearing the end after Sunday’s regrettable 1-1 draw with St Johnstone.
His team lost a beat again and their misery is compounded by the fact that the Rangers are running clear in the race for the Premiership title, as the stalemate with the Saints leaves them 13 points behind their rivals with two. games to spare.
Celtic once again looked rudderless and a clearly excited Lennon doesn’t think a change of coach is a guaranteed nosedive remedy.
The draw with Callum Davidson’s team makes it just two wins in his last 13 games and the 49-year-old admits desperate form can be changed.
Speaking to BBC Sportsound, Lennon said: “Do I feel like it’s the end for me? I don’t know
‘Can I turn it around? I have done nothing but try to bring success to the club, we are going through a really bad time at the moment.
“I’ve been through bad periods before.
“Can I turn it around? Yes, of course I can, will I have time to do it? Well, I’ve already been told that the club is with me.
“But it is a results-driven business and the results are not what they should be.
“It is not a question of me feeling that I deserve something, I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this club and I am very proud to continue to do so.”
But Lennon was upset when BBC reporter Kheredine Idessane kept up her line of questions about whether or not the time had come for the embattled Celtic chieftain.
And Lennon, fed up, replied: “I’m not afraid of anything, you’re asking all these negative questions Kheridine, you’re asking questions about my work.”
“The club already came out this week and said they support me, what else do you want them to do?
“I agree, the results are not good enough, it will improve, I have no doubt about that, whether on my own or not, we will wait and see.
“But I can’t answer the questions you are asking.”
