Thousands of fans have sat in their seats to watch the first Premier League match that has allowed fans to enter a field since March.

West Ham will host Manchester United at the London Stadium following the easing of restrictions on fans in stadiums from 2 December.

London is at Level 2 under government regulations on coronavirus, meaning 2,000 fans attended the game, which started at 5:30 pm

The stadium in east London is still far from full despite the relaxation of the measures, with a capacity for 80,000 spectators.

Under the new measures, clubs in Level 1 can allow up to 4,000 supporters on their grounds, while teams in Level 2 can receive up to 2,000.

Matches that take place in Level 3 areas must still be played behind closed doors.

This means that Premier League giants Manchester United and Manchester City are still unable to welcome fans to their grounds.

The only parts of the country on Level 1 are the Isle of Wight, Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly.
