Labor leader Sir Keir Starmer has been forced to return to self-isolation after a member of his staff tested positive for coronavirus.

A spokesperson for Sir Keir said: “This afternoon, Keir Starmer was recommended to isolate himself after a member of his private office staff tested positive for the coronavirus.

“Keir is fine and showing no symptoms. Now he will be working from home.”

He is expected to remain in isolation until December 16 after contacting the employee on Tuesday, the spokesperson added.

Mr starmer went into self-isolation in September after one of your children showed symptoms. The boy’s test came back negative and he was able to return to his normal duties.

The Labor leader’s wife, Victoria, works for an NHS hospital that allows any member of staff or family to get a COVID-19 test done if they show symptoms.

But government guidelines advise people who come in contact with anyone who tests positive to stay indoors for 14 days, even if they themselves test negative. It is unclear when Sir Keir’s last test for the virus was performed.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson she was forced to isolate herself for the second time last month after having a meeting with a MP who later tested positive.

Johnson was forced to participate in the prime minister’s questions virtually after spending about 35 minutes with Lee Anderson on November 12.

Like Sir Keir, he didn’t show any symptoms, but said he was “following the rules” and remained “fit like a butcher dog” during his quarantine at number 10.
