30-year-old woman, one of three people killed in a horror accident and two men injured in hospital

Three people have died and two others are in hospital after a terrible traffic accident.

Scottish police were called to the scene in Bothwell, Lanarkshire, at around 4.35am following reports of an accident.

Sadly, a 30-year-old woman and two 36- and 62-year-old men were pronounced dead at the scene, the Daily Record reports.

A 31-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Wishaw University Hospital, where hospital staff described his condition as critical.

Another man, 42, was also taken to hospital and is described as stable.

The accident involved a Vauxhall Astra on Blairston Avenue near its junction with Bothwell Road.



A police investigation has been launched

The Scottish police have launched a police investigation and the force has urged anyone to submit information.

Chief Inspector Darren Fauldsi of the Road Surveillance Unit said: “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those involved in this accident.

“Our officers are communicating with families and providing support.



Officers ask for information

“Our investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of this accident.

“I would ask any witness to the accident, or anyone with information that could help our investigation, to contact us. I would also like to speak to anyone who was driving on this road at the time of the accident and who may have dash cam footage to present. “
