The law prohibiting all but essential travel between England and Wales will be lifted from 6pm on Friday, December 4.

Travel between Wales and the UK areas with the highest coronavirus rates in England’s Tier 3, all of Northern Ireland and Scotland’s Tier 3 and 4 will still not be allowed as of 6pm tomorrow, he said. Prime Minister Mark Drakeford.

However, people will be allowed to travel to areas with less coronavirus levels 1 and 2 in England and Scotland, although they are urged not to.

Wales coronavirus regulations will be amended to prohibit travel to and from level three areas in England; level three and four areas in Scotland and Northern Ireland, which is currently blocked.

England’s rules also prevent people from visiting Level 3 areas from other parts of the country, although you are allowed to travel if you don’t stop.

After the firewall lockdown in Wales ended on 9 November, people were told to only travel between the two countries if it was “essential”.

A new travel guide was issued on Thursday strongly advising people in Wales not to travel to other parts of the UK with lower levels of coronavirus (level one and two areas in England or level one and two areas in Scotland ) to help control the spread of the virus.

But travel is no longer prohibited to travel to Level 1 and 2 areas in England, following the lifting of the national blockade there on December 2.

Most of England is in the second highest tier, tier two, including the cities of London and Liverpool.

Prime Minister Mark Drakeford said: “There will be no restrictions on travel within Wales, but we need to have some restrictions on travel across the border to those parts of the UK where infection rates are high to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. .

“We are also advising people in Wales not to travel to those parts of England and Scotland where the infection rate is lowest, to help prevent them from taking the coronavirus with them.

“The coronavirus does not respect borders, we all have a role to play in keeping Wales and the UK safe. Please think carefully about where you are going and what you are doing. This virus thrives wherever we bond with others.

“Taken in conjunction with our other measures, these travel restrictions will help keep us all safe.”

The travel restrictions are likely to remain in effect until at least January 2021, but will be kept under constant review, the Welsh government said.

All travel restrictions within the UK will be lifted between December 23-27 to allow people to meet members of their Christmas bubble. People traveling to and from Northern Ireland will be able to travel the day before this period begins and the day after.
