The First Lady posted a selection of images on social media showing some of the Christmas decorations adorning the White House this year. But social media users were divided over the new design, with Twitter users pointing out that Americans are using food banks amid the coronavirus pandemic.
In a short post on Twitter, Mrs. Trump showed off the decorations with the theme “America la Bella”.
She said, in announcing the awards: “During this special time of year, I am delighted to share ‘America the Beautiful’ and pay tribute to the majesty of our great Nation.
“Together, we celebrate this land that we are all proud to call home.”
The First Lady traditionally handles the design of the White House for Christmas, and in 2017 Mrs. Trump’s Christmas decorations took 1,600 hours to install.
The Trump administration has not disclosed the cost of any of the First Lady’s Christmas decorations, but former President Barack Obama’s administration spent an average of $ 1 million each year on festive decorations, according to ABC.

Twitter users took note of the lavish decorations and criticized Mrs. Trump for showing off the White House amid the coronavirus pandemic.
One user said: “We are struggling, seriously, we don’t even want to put lights on because we can’t pay the electricity bill.
“Should the White House be conservative and distribute the money to the less fortunate?
Another added: “It’s good to be you ‘decorating’ without a budget as LOTS of people struggle to put food on the table.
“Tons of people with unemployment that has ended or is about to end, but there it is, as fresh as it can be with no worries in the world.”
But other Twitter users praised the First Lady despite the festive reaction and praised the new decorations.
One user said: “Once again you took it out of Melania Park. It’s absolutely beautiful, I can’t wait to read the children’s vitriol on the left. “
Another added: “You deserve to be on the cover of all the magazines in the world, not only because you are beautiful, but because you deserve it!”
One more user said: “She is such a beautiful woman. They never gave her the credit she deserves. “
Earlier, Mrs. Trump sparked outrage over leaked comments she made to a former assistant about having to install the “damn Christmas” decorations every year.
Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former adviser to the First Lady, secretly filmed Mrs. Trump enraged by the annual decorations and being criticized for Trump’s immigration policy.
Mrs. Trump said, “I’m working … my ass on Christmas stuff, you know, who cares about Christmas things and decorations? But I have to, right? “
“Okay, and then I do it and I say I’m working on Christmas and planning Christmas and they said, ‘Oh, what about the kids that were separated?’ Give me a fucking break. “
