Marine v Mourinho: FA Cup minnows tie Tottenham in round three | FA Cup

The Northern Premier League Division One Marine, at the eighth level of the English game, has faced Premier League leaders Tottenham at home in the third round of the FA Cup.

Crosby’s team in Merseyside became the second eighth division team to reach the third round, beating Havant & Waterlooville after extra time on Sunday. The gulf that separates them from José Mourinho’s Tottenham is the largest between two clubs in the third round.

Ties to be played during the weekend of 8-11 January

Chorley of the National League North will play the Derby at home and Stockport of the National League has also surrendered home advantage in their tie against West Ham.

Champion Arsenal take on Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium and another Premier League tie sees Aston Villa versus Liverpool at Villa Park.

Another eighth-tier team, Canvey Island of the Isthmian League North Division, will play Millwall at home if they beat the National League’s Boreham Wood in Monday night’s second-round tie.

League Two Crawley have played Leeds at home and Bristol Rovers have been rewarded for beating Darlington 6-0 in the second round with a home draw against Sheffield United.

Last season’s defeated finalists Chelsea will play League Two’s Morecambe at Stamford Bridge and 2019 winners Manchester City will host Birmingham. QPR face Fulham in a West London derby at Loftus Road, while Manchester United have faced Watford at Old Trafford.
