A man pleaded guilty to the murder of a 12-year-old boy in a hit and run outside a school in Essex.
Terence Glover, 52, admitted to manslaughter for diminished responsibility at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
Harley Watson was killed after a vehicle collided with children leaving Debden Park High School in Loughton on December 2 of last year.
Glover, who appeared via video link at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Monday, has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge.
This was accepted by the crown and he must return to be sentenced.
Glover also pleaded guilty to the attempted murder charges of Raquel Jimeno, 23, and six boys and three girls between the ages of 12 and 16, who cannot be named due to a court order.
The defendant, who is being held at a mental health facility, also admitted to dangerously driving a Ford Ka on Willingale Road, Loughton.
Christine Agnew, the prosecutor, said Glover had “suffered a mental abnormality” at the time of the incident.
She said: “That decision has been explained in detail to Harley Watson’s parents.”
Harley’s mother, who attended court with her partner, sat in the public gallery and cried as Glover alleged the charges.
Miss Agnew said the parents of the other victims and a member of the school staff were listening to the hearing from another courtroom.
In the short hearing that lasted about 15 minutes, Ms. Agnew said that two psychiatrists will present evidence in court at sentencing on January 8.
