Two police officers were injured during protests outside Celtic Park tonight, following the club’s loss to Ross County in the Scottish League Cup.
Fans gathered outside the stadium on Glasgow’s east end to call for coach Neil Lennon to be fired following the team’s 2-0 loss.
Scottish police said two of their officers suffered minor injuries while dealing with the incident, although no arrests have been made.
Justice Minister Humza Yousaf called the scenes outside Celtic Park “absolutely disgraceful.”
He tweeted: “Absolutely embarrassing scenes outside Celtic Park of a minority of fans tonight with violence directed at police. Officers have been front and center to keep us safe during this pandemic, treating them this way at any time is Shameful, doing it during these times is a shame. “
Superintendent Stevie Dolan, Greater Glasgow Division, said: “At around 4.30pm on Sunday, a large number of fans began gathering outside Celtic Park to protest.
“An adequate police response was carried out and now the group has dispersed.
