Legendary Argentine soccer player Diego Maradona has died at age 60, the country’s soccer federation reported.
Maradona, who was captain of the 1986 World Cup-winning Argentine team, is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, if not the greatest.
It will be three days of national mourning, said Argentine President Alberto Fernández.

In addition to the victory in 1986, Maradona also led Argentina to the final of the Italy 90 World Cup and achieved it in South Africa in 2010.
The star who intervened of a subdural hematoma a few weeks ago, he died of a heart attack, his attorney said.
It happened at his home on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, according to Argentine media.
A subdural hematoma is a serious condition in which a blood clot develops between the skull and the surface of the brain. It is usually caused by a head injury.
The player’s doctor, Leopoldo Luque, said he had shown signs of improvement since the operation.
He added: “He has an excellent postoperative period.”

Maradona was also recently admitted to the hospital because “he was not well psychologically”.
He had been “very sad for a week” and “did not want to eat,” according to one of his representatives.
Former England forward Gary Lineker said Maradona was “by far the best player of my generation and possibly the greatest of all time.”
He added: “After a blessed but troubled life, hopefully he will finally find some comfort in the hands of God.”
Pele from Brazil said: “Certainly, one day we will kick a ball together in the sky.”
One of Maradona’s former teams, Napoli, said his death was a “devastating blow” to both the city and the club.
