Celebrity Big Brother star Heavy D has died at the age of 43, his friend confirmed.
The larger-than-life reality star, whose real name is Colin Newell, passed away this week.
His friend Nick Nevern tweeted: “I am very shocked and saddened to learn of my friend’s passing. @HeavyHeavyd.
“You lived your life the way you wanted to and fuck anyone who didn’t like it! You always brought a smile to my face, bro, and lifted whatever room you were in. #RIPHeavyD. “
He was a devoted Arsenal fan and used to give interviews on AFTV, with the channel tweeting about the news of his death.
A post on AFTV’s Twitter page read: “We are shocked to hear the sad news that Heavy D passed away today. Our condolences go out to his family at this very sad time. #RIPHeavyD. “
No further details were available about his death.
He remained active on social media until almost two weeks ago and posted his last tweet on November 14.
Heavy D’s real name was Colin Newell and he was best known for appearing in Storage Wars and for his stint on Celebrity Big Brother in 2016.
He appeared on the show alongside stars like Stephen Bear, Lewis Bloor, Chloe Khan, Marnie Simpson, and Samantha Fox.
Heavy D was the fourth to be evicted and Stephen Bear won.
Before reaching fame, he worked as a taxi driver and a market stall salesman.
He had also been an aspiring actor even taking a two-year course at the Young Actors Theater.
Heavy D became a father in 2017 when his on-and-off girlfriend Bryony Harris gave birth to a daughter.
They had gotten engaged, but split over Christmas 2016 before getting back together.
In recent years, Heavy D seemed to have been through a difficult time.
She appeared on an episode of Judge Rinder in 2018 to address a dispute with her landlord.
The owner claimed that the reality star had caused £ 5,000 damage to his property, while Heavy D disputed the amount and demanded £ 8,000 for loss of earnings caused by a negative story the owner had sold to the press.
During the show, Judge Rinder asked why she couldn’t afford two months of rent despite her celebrity status.
Heavy D explained that he had been struggling to find work after CBB.
He told Judge Rinder: “The job had dried up.
“I got out of Big Brother. I thought there would be a lot of work. My agent couldn’t get me any jobs and the job just dried up.”
