PUB drinkers will have to order a full meal even to drink outside after closing, as the industry is affected by new Covid restrictions for stores and gyms to stay open, Boris Johnson said today.
The new rules, which will be introduced after the current lockdown ends on December 2, were announced today by the Prime Minister.

Level 2 will be “beefed up” and it is understood that pubs will only be able to serve alcoholic beverages in conjunction with a “substantial meal”, even outdoors.
Punters will only be able to dine with people they live with indoors, but they can sit with people outside their home outdoors under the ‘rule of six’.
Pubs and restaurants on Level 3 will only be able to operate with one click and charge with no indoor seating.
Places on Level 1 will be able to operate closer than normal, with table service and social distancing.
However, few areas are expected to return to the lowest level when the breakdown is released on Thursday.
The new rules, to be released next week, include:
In a ray of good news, the hated 10 p.m. curfew is set to be lifted, with an hour to drink and eat until 11 p.m.
However, UK Hospitality CEO Kate Nicholls criticized the new Covid rules.
She told the Telegraph: “This is a cruel decision and it feels like the entire sector is being thrown to the wolves.
“We get 25 percent of our profit in the run-up to Christmas and the government is taking it away.
“This will have a catastrophic effect on a large number of companies and all the jobs that were suspended now will be lost.
“You’re talking about the prospect of a million jobs lost and 30 to 40,000 stores closing their doors forever.”
More than 70 Conservative MPs said they will oppose the new rules amid claims that the hospitality sector has been treated as a “sacrificial lamb” to allow other sectors to survive.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak had reportedly advocated for the removal of pubs and restaurants from the tier system on December 22, two days before the rules were relaxed for Christmas.
However, it appears that Johnson overruled it, as scientific advisers said hotel companies were responsible for a significant spread of the virus.
CHRISTMAS BUBBLES
During Christmas, homes can “bubble” for five days to enjoy the festivities together.
Families will have to choose their social bubble in advance and can spend time indoors with them, even at the pub.
It is understood that a limited number of households will be allowed to meet according to plans.
But this has yet to be approved by the government, which is still trying to reach an agreement with the leaders of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The ban on home mixing is likely to be lifted from Christmas Eve and Christmas Day through the December 28 public holiday.
In the run-up to Christmas, all stores will be able to open regardless of their local closing measures.
The Sun has learned that gyms will also be able to open across the country.
The levels in which each area will be located will be announced on Thursday.
Plans for a new stricter 4th level have been dropped.
Most of the country is expected to return to the stricter Tier 3 or high-risk Tier 2.
Johnson has also introduced a testing push for Level 3 areas. It will allow them to “call on the support of the NHS Test and Trace and the Military” to conduct extensive community testing.
Food manufacturing workers, prison staff and those who deliver and administer Covid vaccines will be offered weekly testing starting in December.
Johnson has promised that “with the expansion of testing and vaccines nearing deployment, the regional tiered system will help bring the virus back under control and keep it there.”
More than 70 of their own MPs want the rules to be relaxed after the national lockdown ends.
But with Labor support, their plans are set to navigate through the Commons regardless of any Conservative rebellion.
