Wern your points
Saturday afternoon was a bittersweet watch for Timo Werner (£ 9.5m) owners. The German forward was heavily involved in Chelsea’s attacking display at Newcastle, but only got one assist in the 2-0 win.
The forward had a shot on goal saved by the busy Karl Darlow (£ 5.0 million) after just three minutes.
In the 15th minute, Werner’s straight run saw him shoot a low cross to the right across the six-yard area, with Tammy abraham (£ 7.2 million) unable to reach the ball in time to convert.
Werner was then the player who could not contact a Reece james (£ 5.0m), after the right-back was put into space by a wonderful Hakim Ziyech (£ 8.2m) film.
Just before half an hour, Werner wasted a great opportunity, having been overtaken by Abraham Mateo Kovacic (£ 5.3 million) won the ball near the Newcastle area.
After the break, Werner stole the ball from the substitute Fabian Schar (£ 4.9m), who had replaced the injured Jamaal lascelles (4.4 million pounds).
The German seemed caught in two minds between shooting and passing as he entered the area, his weak attempt to assist for a Ziyech touch cleared by Urracas’ rear fighting.
Another Chelsea break saw Abraham go for the goal amid a mass of Newcastle bodies when he could have played Werner, although the former Leipzig striker did not take it seriously when preparing the England forward for the second of the game. Chelsea.
“I always felt that the moments of real danger for us could be the transition and the counterattack. Scam [Werner] showed that two or three times in the first half and shows that for Tammy [Abraham’s] target. “- Frank Lampard
A scoring run from inside his own half saw Werner slide Abraham into goal, with the £ 7.2 million man beating Darlow with a low shot that hit the right post before going inside.
Despite the frustrating potential owners and those who captained him, Werner’s involvement is certainly positive for the upcoming Gameweeks.
“He had a couple of chances, to be fair to Timo. He was a real threat to us throughout the game. The rhythm in which he traveled with the ball was something special ”. – Frank Lampard
Werner put the ball in the back of the net just before being substituted, but that goal, assisted by Ziyech, was correctly disallowed for offside.
Hakim down
While Werner was eventually placed on the ‘FPL roster’, the Ziyech owners had to settle for a three-point score.
The Moroccan magician came close to an assist from a delightful crusader in the first half, but Abraham headed straight for Darlow from close range.
Ziyech would also have had a simple shot on an open goal if Werner had been able to find him in that passage early in the second period.
Only Mason Mount (£ 6.8 million) made more successful passes in the final third than the former Ajax player.
It was the England midfielder who assisted in Chelsea’s opener, after Werner slipped the ball on the right side of the field after a short corner routine.
Newcastle defender Federico Fernández converted a low center from Mount into the center, who was unable to clear his feet under pressure from Ben chilwell (6.0 million pounds sterling).
Recovery defense
He now has four clean sheets in six Gameweeks for G (£ 5.1 million) and the Chelsea defense.
Thiago silva (£ 5.5 million) received Gameweek 9 discount after their excursions with Brazil. Deputy Antonio Rudiger (£ 4.5 million) could hardly have asked for a better game to start with, with Newcastle offering very little going forward.
The way of N’Golo Kante (£ 4.9m), now sunk to Lampard’s 4-3-3, is certainly a boon to Chelsea’s clean sheet potential. On the France midfielder, Lampard said:
“His levels are really high. He is a great midfielder ”. – Frank Lampard
About the lost trio Christian pulisic (£ 8.2 million), Kai havertz (£ 8.3 million) and Silva, the Chelsea manager, stated on Thursday:
“Christian Pulisic is not fit for Newcastle, but he has slowly stepped up his training. It was quite a troublesome injury, so we will be cautious. Kai Havertz is back, his isolation is over. He tested negative two days ago so he’s just started training more just to individually regain some of his fitness after two weeks at home. Thiago Silva has just landed. He just texted me this afternoon so he probably won’t be going to Newcastle due to the length of the trip and the schedules. “- Frank Lampard
Newcastle, the same old story
Despite Bruce saying after the game that the Magpies “had three good chances,” Newcastle’s combined ‘expected goals’ total of 0.35 tells a different story.
And in what was already a difficult afternoon, the Lascelles club captain was forced to withdraw from the game with an injury at halftime. On the subject, Bruce explained:
“It’s weird because he hurt his knee just before halftime. As he ran to test his knee, he felt his thigh. It was difficult. We hope it’s not too bad. We won’t know how bad it is until we see it on Monday. “- Steve Bruce
In Callum wilson (£ 6.6 million), which was lost to a hamstring injury, Bruce said the same before and after the game:
“I couldn’t risk it today due to the threat of a hamstring injury and being out for the next six weeks. We have made a mistake on the side of caution and we hope it will be fine next week. ” – Callum Wilson
