The family of an 18-year-old law student who died after collapsing in the corridors of a Cardiff university has described her as disinterested and “full of aspirations.”

Megan Pollitt, a student at Cardiff Rugby University in Warwickshire, was discovered by roommates shortly after midnight on Saturday. She was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in the Welsh capital, but could not be saved.

Following the teenager’s death, South Wales police said they had charged a 23-year-old man with drug offenses.

Lanoi Liddell appeared before Cardiff magistrates on Wednesday, where he was taken into custody. He is due on trial for offering to supply cocaine and a class B drug, in addition to supplying MDMA and ketamine, in Cardiff Crown court on December 16.

On Friday, family members issued a tribute via South Wales police, describing the student as a lover of classics, music and the great outdoors.

The tribute read: “Megan Pollitt, affectionately known as Meg by family and friends, sadly passed away at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff on Monday 16th November.

“Meg dedicated her time to everyone around her and was always there for others. She had recently started studying law in Cardiff and was full of dreams and aspirations.

“Having moved out, Meg still enjoyed close contact with family and friends, sharing stories and laughter through visits and calls.

“We will miss her beautiful bright smile and positive energy that would lift anyone’s spirits.

“Meg loved the outdoors, especially the walks with her father and his dog. He had recently climbed Snowdon and made it to the top.

“Meg also loved reading classics, watching anime and listening to music, as well as supporting the Wasps rugby team. Meg will be missed and loved forever by her mom and dad, her sister, her grandparents and her friends. “

A spokesman for Cardiff University said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the sad death of one of our students. Our student welfare and support service is in contact with the most affected students to offer advice and support.
