Northern Ireland’s coronavirus rules go into effect on November 27

This is the full list of rules that the Northern Ireland Executive agreed on Thursday night.

A near-total closure has been announced, but schools will remain open.

While close contact services, such as hair salons, coffee shops and close contact services, may reopen starting tomorrow as planned, they will need to close again.

Churches, gyms, entertainment centers, and all non-essential retail stores will close for two weeks starting at 12:01 a.m. on November 27.

Full list of restrictions:

  • Closing of all retail stores except essential ones
  • Close contact services such as driving instruction (not motorcycle) except for television production and auxiliary to medical and social care
  • Closure of all hospitality, except accommodation during essential trips.

  • Food in highway services, airports and exempt terminals and take away food will be allowed

  • Licenses open closing at 8 pm
  • Closure of leisure and entertainment activities (including all play areas, gyms and swimming pools, etc.)
  • Sporting events only allowed for elite sports. Individual / home outdoor exercise and school physical education to continue.
  • Elite sporting events behind closed doors with spectators
  • In-home gatherings other than bubbles of support are not permitted under current exceptions for care, maintenance, and moving
  • Closed for churches except weddings and funerals. Maximum 25 for weddings and funerals.
  • Strong message of staying at home, working from home, essential purposes, education and essential exercise.
  • Schools that will remain open
  • Uni / FE Universities – distance except essential
  • Public parks and outdoor play areas remain open
