Tributes have been paid to a “lovely” English teacher as the police launch a murder investigation into her death.
Caroline Kayll died in hospital four days after being assaulted at a home in the Northumberland village of Linton.
Police are searching for Paul Robson, 49, who is currently wanted in connection with the attack on Sunday night.
At approximately 8.55 p.m. Sunday, police were called at the Foxcover address following a report of riots.
Emergency services came and found that a 47-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy had been assaulted.
The woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since died.
The tributes began pouring into social media after police identified the woman as Ms. Kayll on Thursday.
A reader posted on the ChronicleLive Facebook page: “My son’s English teacher, needless to say, he’s devastated. Our condolences to his family and friends.
One woman posted: “RIP beautiful lady. What a tragedy, Caroline was an AMAZING woman. “
Another said: “Devastated to hear this terrible news. RIP Caroline, beautiful lady. Thinking of your family and friends. “
While another reader wrote: “Absolutely horrendous and appalling to hear a 47 year old woman have her life stolen. My thoughts go to my family and friends.
The teenager suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and has since been released from the hospital. Police say he is not related to Caroline or the suspect.
Police remained at the home in Foxcover, Linton, on Thursday as a forensic team continued their investigations inside the property.
Investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident continue, but the police are treating Caroline’s death as murder.
Paul Robson, who is from Wallsend, is known to Caroline and investigations to locate him have been ongoing since the weekend.
He is described as white, around 5 feet 5 inches tall, thin in build, bald, and wears glasses. Paul is believed to have traveled to Glasgow and search activity has focused on the city in recent days.
A 58-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of helping a criminal and remains in police custody at this time.
Northumbria Police Superintendent Paul Milner appealed to the public for help but offered reassurance that the attack is being treated as an isolated incident.
He said: “This has been a complex investigation that has seen officers conducting investigations across the region this week.
“We know that it has caused a lot of concern, particularly the fact that a suspect in this case has not yet been arrested.
“I want to assure you that this is being treated as an isolated incident and there is no information to suggest that Paul Robson is a danger to the general public.
“Extensive investigations to locate Paul have continued in recent days and we are now asking the public for help in locating him.
“We want to emphasize that this is a live murder investigation and an incredibly difficult time for Caroline’s family and the teenager injured in the attack.
“We urge people not to speculate on any of the circumstances, as it could hamper our investigation.” Anyone with information that could assist in our investigation or who knows the location of the suspect is asked to contact us immediately. “
Anyone who thinks they can help the police should report online at the Northumbria Police website citing record 421 11/19/20.
