Donald Trump fired the head of a government agency he created to ensure the reliability of the vote, for his insistence that the election was fair and safe.
President He publicly fired Christopher Krebs, former director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), on Twitter.
Trump tweeted: “The recent statement by Chris Krebs on the security of the Election 2020 was very inaccurate, in the sense that there was massive fraud and fraud, including dead voting, Poll Watchers not allowed at polling places, ‘glitches’ in voting machines that switched votes from Trump to Biden, voting late and many more.
“Therefore, with immediate effect, Chris Krebs has been fired as Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.”
Krebs, who was hired by Trump in 2016, tweeted a report Tuesday that cited nearly 60 election security officials who said there was no credible evidence of computer fraud in the election.
He has repeatedly denied the president’s claims that the elections were fraudulent, saying last week: “The November 3 elections were the safest in the history of the United States.”
According to US media reports, Krebs was warned that the White House could start attacking him personally following his refusal to defend the president, after Trump supporters began attacking him.
Apparently, he learned of his firing through President Trump’s tweet.
Tweeting after his dismissal, Mr. Krebs wrote: “It is an honor to serve. We did well. Stand up for today, secure tomorrow. # Protect2020.”
The outgoing president remain unconditionally defiant That fraud took place during the elections and is still filing lawsuits in swing states in an attempt to have the results overturned, even though there is no hard evidence of any crime.
Reacting to Krebs’ firing, US Rep. Adam Schiff, a Democrat who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, praised the former chairman, saying he “worked diligently to safeguard our elections, provide vital support to state and local election officials. and inform the American people of what was true and what was not. “

He added: “Instead of rewarding this great service, President Trump is retaliating against Director Krebs and other officials who did their duty.
“It is pathetic, but sadly predictable that defending and protecting our democratic processes is grounds for firing.”
It is not the first personnel change Trump has made since the election, after firing his defense secretary, Mark Esper, in an attempt to secure support in the Pentagon.
President-elect Joe Biden’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
