A man was charged with the murder of his wife after she was found stabbed to death in their home.
Paula Leather was found seriously injured early Monday morning at the home she shared with her partner in Tinling Close in Prescot.
The 56-year-old man had been stabbed multiple times in the head and neck and died shortly thereafter.
Her husband, George Leather, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has been in police custody since she was found.
On Tuesday night, detectives charged the 60-year-old man with murder and took him into custody.
It will appear in Liverpool Magistrates Court on Wednesday 18 November.

Tributes to Paula were left outside her home as neighbors commented on how “polite” and “considerate” she was.
A bouquet was also left on the police cordon with a heartbreaking note from a friend attached.
It said, “I can’t believe I’m saying goodbye to such a special person and a great friend.
“Many people will miss you.
“Forever in our hearts and thoughts Paula.
“Thinking of your family in such a sad moment. All our love xxx”.
There was still a large police presence at the scene Tuesday night where officers continued to guard the home.
In a statement on the developments of the investigation, a Merseyside police spokesman said: “A man has been charged with the murder of his wife at Prescot in the early hours of Monday 16 November.

“Around 1.20 AM, Tinling Close emergency services were called to report that a woman in her 50s had been found seriously injured. Unfortunately, she was pronounced deceased around 1.40 AM.” .
“The victim has been formally identified as Paula Leather, 56, of Prescot.
“A post-mortem examination by the Ministry of the Interior was carried out and the cause of death was determined as stab wounds to the face and neck.
“His family has the support of specialized agents.
“George Leather, 60, of Tinling Close, Prescot was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with murder.
“He has been placed in preventive custody to appear in Liverpool Magistrates Court on Wednesday 18th November.”
