COVID-19: Self-isolating Boris Johnson Says Vaccine Could Be Distributed “Maybe Before Christmas” | Political news

Boris Johnson has declared himself “fit as a butcher dog” while isolating himself, while also raising the possibility of a COVID-19 vaccine being distributed “perhaps before Christmas.”

the Prime Minister is currently self-insulating after meeting with a conservative deputy who then tested positive for coronavirus.

In a video posted to his Twitter account Monday, Johnson said the NHS Test and Trace system had “pinned” him.

He added: “It doesn’t matter that we’re all doing social distancing, it doesn’t matter that I’m fit as a butcher dog, it suits me, a lot of people do in my circumstances, and it doesn’t really matter. I’ve had the disease and I’m full of antibodies.

“We have to stop the spread of the disease and one of the ways we can do that now is by isolating ourselves for 14 days when NHS Test and Trace contacts you.”

The prime minister suggested that his case showed that the NHS Test and Trace is “working well”, despite criticism of the £ 12 billion program.

He also said that the UK now had “two giant boxing gloves with which to beat our enemy into submission”, amid the second wave of COVID-10 infections.

Mr. Johnson described them as massive rapid tests for the disease and a vaccine “that I hope we can start distributing to those who really need it, perhaps before Christmas.”

US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer and its vaccine partner BioNTech released initial results last week suggesting that their jab was 90% effective in protecting people from COVID-19.

The government has asked the NHS, which will be supported by the Armed Forces, to be ready for the deployment of a vaccine from early December.

The prime minister’s Twitter video was filmed by himself without journalists being able to ask questions.
