‘Oh no!’ Fern Britton is left in shock when Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford step down from their position on Friday’s This Morning.
Fern Britton has responded after her friends Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were removed from her position on This Morning.
TV hosts Eamonn and Ruth, both 60, hosted This Morning for 14 years on Friday mornings.
However, they were “ disappointed and devastated ” after they were eliminated, with Alison Hammond, 45, and Dermot O’Leary, 47, taking on the role.
Responding: Fern Britton has responded after her friends Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were kicked out of their This Morning position.
Fern, who hosted the popular daytime show from 1999-2009, took to Twitter after hearing the news and said ‘Oh no?’
The host, 63, also retweeted: ‘That doesn’t take away from the fact that Alison Hammond is a superstar who deserves the world. Spent too long on ITV, this is her moment. ‘
Eamonn and Ruth will continue to host the ITV program Monday through Thursday during the six week school vacation.
Alison, who first appeared on screen as a contestant on Big Brother, and Dermot, impressed both viewers and ITV bosses when they covered lead presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield over the summer.

Last night a source from This Morning said: ‘Ruth and Eamonn have been a part of the show for 14 years and being told that they no longer love them has been very sad and disappointing for them.
“They love it and the viewers love them, but times are changing on the show and they have been the victims.”
The couple have been assured that they remain ‘part of the This Morning family’ and are likely to be asked to cover when other presenters are on vacation.
The move is not a surprise to them. In recent weeks, Holmes has told friends about his fear of being too “pale, stale and masculine” for the ITV show.
Intervention: The married hosts, both in their 60s, are said to be “ angry and upset ” as they will now be replaced by Alison and Dermot, who previously hosted the show together.
During a video conference with staff in June, Frizell said: “There is no black presenter on any of the shows today.
‘We plan to change that, we [This Morning] they’re looking into that. ‘
ITV has sought to bring more diversity to its roster of presenters since The Mail on Sunday revealed last October that there had only been one ethical minority presenter during a full day’s production.
But in August this year, there were eight non-white presenters on screen in a single day.
Last night, ITV and representatives for Holmes and Langsford declined to comment.
Shake-up: Eamonn and Ruth have performed every Friday on the show since 2006, and the couple will reportedly now replace Holly and Phil for the six-week summer term.
