Prince Harry made a surprise appearance on Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.
Making history on the show, royalty had a sweet message of support for their good friend JJ Chalmers.
It was Harry’s first public appearance in the UK since he and his wife Meghan Markle stepped down as senior members of the royal family earlier this year.
JJ, who teamed up with Strictly pro Amy Dowden, performed her first jive of the show, set in Bette Midler’s Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.
And your spirits will no doubt be bolstered by an unexpected appearance from your favorite red-haired royal member.
Harry told him, “When I first met JJ he was a shell of himself, but then watching you shine through Invictus and be yourself again, it was the start of an incredible journey.
“You are definitely having an impact on society now, especially when you are wearing those tight blue shorts and the high socks.
“There is nothing better than that!”
Harry added, “I’m really proud. You’re not a dancer, which shows that you can really do what you put your mind to, which is amazing.”
Close friends met after JJ’s devastating blast injuries when he was serving in Afghanistan, and they quickly bonded over their shared experience of serving in the Armed Forces.
Harry helped support JJ after his recovery, and the Paralympic athlete paid him in kind by competing in the first Invictus Games in history, earning a gold medal in cycling.
JJ and his wife Kornelia were even invited to all three parts of Prince Harry’s wedding day to Meghan Markle, even though they only met four years before the big day.
Their friendship blossomed further, with JJ supporting Meghan as she was tormented by trolls.
“She is extraordinary. He can share the burden with someone, the good guys and the bad guys,” JJ said of the Duchess of Sussex.
And it seems like Harry is a secret Strictly fan, and he’s been watching JJ every week climbing up the rankings.
“I thought he would find it funny, but he thought I was good,” JJ said of Harry’s support for his dance stage.
“He thought, ‘heck, he can dance.’
JJ also praised Harry for his secret support, adding, “He’s a veteran. He’s a guy who has seen it, has. And he understands it in a way that a lot of people don’t.”
“He has trained me, he has helped me, he has taken care of me, because that is what veterans do.”
Strictly from Saturday it looked very different after a week from hell.
Nicola Adams was forced to withdraw from the competition after her dance partner Katya Jones tested positive for coronavirus, despite showing no symptoms.
Katya must isolate herself for 14 days, while Nicola must be quarantined for 10 days, which means she will miss too much training to continue on the program.
Judge Motsi Mabuse also skipped the episode after flying to Germany for an “urgent trip”.
She must isolate herself upon her return, so she will be replaced tomorrow night by Strictly pro Anton du Beke.
