Police detained a young driver who woke people up with shouts of “wake up, wake up” in the early hours of the morning.

They will take your car away if you do it again, officers warned.

Hampshire police took action after receiving “many complaints from a man causing a nuisance” while driving a red Nissan Navara through Gosport, near Portsmouth.

The 21-year-old and his passengers yelled “many unnecessary things” at the top of their voices in the early hours of the morning, police said.

While “they generally disturbed residents who were trying to sleep”, the Fareham man was also seen turning off the lights and yelling, “You can’t call the police because you can’t see us.”

“How wrong I was,” observed the officers.

After catching up with him, they issued a section 59 warning.
