Christmas lovers kicked off the festive countdown with the long-awaited announcement, but some were furious about the bus routes used.

It begins with a little boy who gets stuck in a tree, reports The Mirror.

Then his friend, a girl with broken glasses, steps in to help use a heart umbrella to knock him down.

This prompts further acts of kindness when the child helps a snowman fly, who then helps a family start their car.

But viewers weren’t impressed by the next scene, although the actual exchange was very heartwarming, as a kind-hearted nurse repaired the girl’s specs with a sticker in the shape of an apple core.

However, the duo were traveling on a 222 bus that said it was heading to Tooting, but in real life that bus route goes from Uxbridge to Hounslow.

Bus watchers took to social media to share their disappointment at the error.

One viewer complained: “John Lewis’s Christmas ad is sending me, why the heck is THE BUS BEING USED?”

Another commented, “That John Lewis ad is nice as long as you can get past the fact that there is no 222 bus to Tooting,” adding, “Which I obviously can’t.”

A third tweeted: “My only criticism of the John Lewis ad is that there is no 222 for Tooting.”

A fourth criticized: “I am afraid I cannot endorse this ad because I have traveled the 222 countless times and it does not come close to Tooting.”

Another eagle-eyed viewer wrote: “FACT CHECK: The 222 goes from Uxbridge to Hounslow and doesn’t come close to Tooting. Did you really think we wouldn’t notice @johnlewis?”

But others shared their love for the ad, writing: “Anyone else has seen the #johnlewischristmasadvert This is what is needed right now.

“A little bit of kindness and love really makes the world go round. So here’s a little bit of me.”
