Tributes flood when a teenager shot dead in the street is named

The tributes have inundated a teenager shot to death in a “cold-blooded” street execution, as shocked locals put it.

Merseyside police launched a murder investigation into the shooting Thursday at Boode Croft’s cul-de-sac in Stockbridge Village.

Nyle Corrigan, 19, was found bleeding and injured on the ground and, despite the best efforts of emergency services, sadly died shortly thereafter.

His relatives have been informed.

The scene was quickly cordoned off by police officers and forensic specialists, who are expected to remain at the scene Friday.

Hundreds of tributes have flooded social media to the teenager, as people expressed shock and anguish at the news.

Paying tribute, a friend wrote: “19 years and already gone. SEVEN YEARS. I am heartbroken.

Another wrote: “Absolutely heartbreaking, rest in peace Nyle thinking of your mom and your family.”

Many ECHO readers also expressed their condolences to the family on Facebook and Twitter, as they criticized those responsible.

Shortly after the murder, Detective Inspector Tony O’Brien shared his condolences with the man’s family and once again issued a statement condemning those who continue to use guns on our streets.

He said: “The investigation is in its initial stages and extensive investigations are underway to establish motive and identify those responsible.

“This was a cold blooded targeted attack on a residential street that took the life of a young man and tonight a family is mourning his tragic loss.

“The people responsible for this attack knew exactly what they were doing and need to be caught.

“There is no place in Merseyside for firearms, or for those who use them and bring fear to our communities.

An autopsy will be carried out by the Ministry of the Interior to establish the cause of death.
