A 19-year-old man has died after being shot in Liverpool, while a family mourns a “cold-blooded attack”.
A Merseyside police detective said tonight that those responsible for the boy’s death in Stockbridge Village in the Knowsley district “knew exactly what they were doing and need to be caught.”
A murder investigation was launched after police found the man with a “serious gunshot wound” after being called to Boode Croft in Stockbridge Village around 6.30pm today.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, who performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, he died at the scene.
Detective Inspector Tony O’Brien said: “The investigation is in its early stages and extensive investigations are underway to establish motive and identify those responsible.
“This was a cold blooded targeted attack on a residential street that took the life of a young man and tonight a family is mourning his tragic loss.
“The people responsible for this attack knew exactly what they were doing and need to be caught.

An autopsy will be carried out by the Ministry of the Interior to establish the cause of death.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “Detectives have launched a murder investigation following a fatal shooting in Stockbridge Village tonight (Thursday, November 12, 2020).
“Emergency services were called to Boode Croft around 6.30pm after it was reported that a man had been shot.
“When the agents arrived at the scene, they found the victim, a 19-year-old local, who suffered a serious gunshot wound.
“Paramedics provided CPR at the scene, but sadly they were unable to save the victim.
“The area has been cordoned off while forensic examinations and house-to-house investigations are being conducted.
“And high visibility patrols in the area have been intensified to reassure the local community.”
Tonight, people in the area reported hearing a series of “heavy blows” before armed police and paramedics arrived on the scene.
Several police and forensic vehicles remain at the scene tonight, with a second more cordon inside the scene.
