Detectives charged a man with attempted arson in connection with an incident at the Edmonton police station.

The station was evacuated Wednesday night after a car crashed into the front of the building, and the driver got out and set the highway on fire with gasoline.

Video of the incident appeared to show a police officer pulling out a fire extinguisher and putting out the flames.

Adam Pawlowski, 45, of Goff’s Lane, EN7, has been charged with attempted arson with intent to endanger life and criminal damage.

He will appear in Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on Friday, November 13.

The London Fire Brigade and the London Ambulance Service attended the incident on Fore Street and no injuries were reported.

The incident was not being treated as related to terrorism.

Detective Chief Superintendent Treena Fleming said early Thursday: “I would like to thank the local community for their patience and cooperation as officers dealt with this incident and the resulting scene.

“My thanks and admiration to the brave officers who responded to this incident without hesitation to maintain the safety of the public, and also to the members of the public who helped detain the suspect without fear for their own safety.”
