Tonight a man was arrested after a car crashed into a north London police station and footage appeared to show the road being soaked in gasoline and set on fire.

Witnesses captured the moment when officers knocked a man to the ground outside the Edmonton Police Station on Fore Street around 7 p.m.

A car can be seen sticking out of the side of the building that Scotland Yard says has now been evacuated and sealed off by a police cordon.

Fire crews and ambulances rushed to the scene, but no injuries have yet been reported.

Separate and yet unverified videos show a man pouring clear liquid onto the track before engulfing it in flames in front of horrified onlookers.

Scotland Yard said: At around 6:58 p.m. Wednesday, a vehicle collided with the station office at the Edmonton police station.

“ A man, without further details, has been arrested in connection with the incident.

‘The vehicle remains in place. Specialist officers are present while it is examined. At this stage we have not been informed of any injuries.

The London Ambulance Service and the London Fire Brigade are present. The police station has been evacuated and a large police cordon has been installed ”.

Councilor Ergin Erbil tweeted: ‘Major incident reports reported at Edmonton Green Police Station. If you are in the Fore Street area, stay safe and be careful.
