MIKE Pompeo said he is confident in a second Trump administration as the US president refuses to grant the election.
When asked if he would help Joe Biden’s presidential transition team, Pompeo appeared to double down on Donald Trump’s refusal to concede the election.
“There will be a smooth transition to a second Trump administration,” he told reporters at a news conference Tuesday with a smile.
“We are ready. The world is watching what is happening. We will count all the votes, when the process is complete there will be selected voters. The constitution establishes it quite clearly.”
Donald Trump will never concede the US election to Joe Biden because the word is not “in his vocabulary,” his campaign has claimed.
The president refuses to admit defeat to the president-elect, claiming widespread electoral fraud despite failing to provide proof of his claims and accusations that doing so is undermining confidence in democracy.
