THE GREAT DEAL
Jack grealish (£ 7.5 million) has firmly established himself in the current roster of success among Fantasy Premier League coaches after another attacking comeback against Arsenal.
Following an assist in Week 8, the Aston Villa midfielder has been involved in 10 of his team’s 18 goals this season (55.6%) and averaged 8.6 points per game in 2020/21.
The English international does not seem to give in either, starring in Villa’s impressive 3-0 win at Arsenal, who came into Sunday night’s clash with the best defensive record in the Premier League.
As is often the case with this action midfield asset, Grealish could easily have left the Emirates Stadium with a third double-digit loot of the season as he helped a John McGinn (£ 5.5m) goal disallowed for offside against Ross Barkley (£ 6.0m) in the first period before seeing his second-half penalty effort cleared off the line by Kieran tierney (£ 5.4 million).
Unsurprisingly, Fantasy managers are taking note of Grealish’s great displays and the ability to convert them into points, putting pressure on non-owners.
Entered Gameweek 8 in 57.9% of squads within the top 10,000 world rankings, just Son Heung-min (87.1%), Harry Kane (86.7%) and Mohamed salah (65.3%) owned more at that level.
With Brighton (home), West Ham (away), Newcastle (home), Wolves (away), Burnley (home), West Bromwich Albion (away) and Crystal Palace (home) the next seven teams to face the Aston Villa, it is certainly not too late to exploit Grealish’s form and favorable matches, its price already jumped to £ 7.5 million on Tuesday morning.

The amiable nature of Aston Villa’s matches, as well as their ability to score goals, certainly warrants anyone looking to double down on their attacking assets.

And while Bamford may be one to consider as another alternate replacement for Wilson, Watkins might even find himself the preferred choice for anyone concerned about Leeds’ matches as they face Arsenal (at home), Everton ( out), Chelsea (out). and West Ham (home) in the next four. Over the past four Gameweeks, Bamford has scored 28 points to Watkins’ 24, so the two players are largely on the same level of performance, but the latter has far better games.
Bark and bite
However, Watkins is not the only inexpensive option to pair up with Grealish, as Barkley added his third attacking comeback of the last five weeks of play against Arsenal.
During that time, he has averaged 5.8 points per game and, prior to Gameweek 9, he was pushed into a more advanced role against Arsenal.
Dean Smith has primarily favored 4-3-3 since the turn of the year as he looked to shore up last season’s defensive woes.
However, in recent weeks Villa’s manager has begun to line up his troops more than 4-2-3-1, asking McGinn and Douglas luiz (£ 4.9m) to sit a little deeper and award Barkley a No. 10 role.
SAFE HANDS?
A first clean sheet since Gameweek 5 was good news for the 26.8% invested in Emiliano Martínez (£ 4.8 million), although Villa’s potential for a clean sheet for his type of matches is arguably still. in the air.
Smith’s men were lucky not to concede at Arsenal, Alexandre Lacazette (£ 8.4 million) turning down a golden opportunity at the back post, which he headed in the first half.
Then in the second half, Rob Holding (4.4 million pounds) was given too long to reach the end of Gabriel(£ 5.1 million). If the offensive players had a chance to attack that space, they might as well have scored.
