The rain didn’t stop some people from enjoying their first night in Wales after the fire lockdown ended.
People flocked to pubs and restaurants when they reopened after the 17-day crackdown to try to reduce the number of coronavirus cases.
Prime Minister Mark Drakeford urged people to be “careful and cautious” when strict restrictions ended and new national measures were introduced.
On Monday night, the friends reunited in Cardiff after weeks apart for a night out.
The end of the closure means that groups of up to four people can now meet in cafes, pubs and restaurants, while shops, gyms, hair salons and places of worship can also reopen.
Since Friday, October 23, hospitality venues and non-essential businesses have been forced to close, and people have asked to stay home in hopes that a short and abrupt shutdown would halt the surge in coronavirus cases.
While the affected businesses were able to reopen on Monday, strict November 9 rules on who can meet did not stop revelers from taking to the streets of the capital.
And the rain didn’t stifle spirits either.
Earlier in the day, thousands of shoppers took to the streets to make up for lost time and, in some cases, start their Christmas shopping.

There were lines in front of many stores in the city center, and bargain-hungry shoppers had also descended on Ikea in Cardiff, with lines stretching from checkouts to the entire branch.
Prime Minister Mark Drakeford said he was confident that most companies had strict measures in place to deal with the coronavirus rules.
He was asked about the large crowds seen in Cardiff city center the first day after the closing ended.
He said he was not concerned as they were being “well managed” and said it was up to people to behave “the right way”.
