The man shot and killed by police has been locally named as Graham Trinder, nicknamed Tommy.
A witness who said he was less than eight feet from him when the bullet hit him said: “The armed officer said ‘armed police drop your gun, armed police, drop your gun’ and then shot him. Nothing.
“They shot him right in the middle of the chest. They didn’t shoot him with a Taser, they shot him directly in the chest. He was the only officer on the scene at the time, there was no one else here.
Police were called to Summers Street in the early hours of the morning to receive reports of two men arguing in the street.

The woman said: “He was an innocent guy drinking and he wanted to go home.
“He was pushed so much that he came out with a blank air rifle that he uses to shoot cans in his yard, he couldn’t even stand up straight let alone hold the gun.
“That life has ended very soon because of a drunken residential argument.”
“His name was Graham Trinder, but the neighbors knew him as Tommy,” he said.
“Everybody knows him around here and they know he wouldn’t hurt anybody.
“He was the father of two children, the youngest is in the RAF. He was a man with a good heart and would help anyone in need. He has five or six houses and was a well-known respectful man.”
The neighbor who was involved in the discussion appealed on social media not to blame him or his partner for the shooting.
He posted: “As you all already know, a guy died after an argument with me. I will give a proper statement to the police in due course.
“I have no recollection because he was very drunk, we were having a great time with our neighbors and we invited that guy to join us since he was alone.
“Later weapons were involved and the guy was shot and killed. Whatever he said or not in my drunken state, it wasn’t me who pulled out a hammer or an air rifle.
“It wasn’t me who shot him. We didn’t want that guy to die either; he clearly needed help instead of being shot.”
