One of the most emotional responses to the announcement that Joe Biden will become the new president of the United States came from CNN political correspondent Van Jones. Two years ago, Jones was criticized by some on the left for working with the Trump administration on criminal justice reform. In 2018, Trump ratified the First Steps Act, a bill he said includes “reasonable sentencing reforms while keeping dangerous and violent criminals off our streets.”
At the time, Jones told CNN host Dom Lemon: “I think you should give him some credit. I say that the 99 times that I disagree with the president I am going to give him hell. But on this one, I’ll give you my regards and applause. “
Jones rose to fame as an adviser to the Obama administration.
