Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took a look at Sir Alex Ferguson’s and José Mourinho’s books after the 3-1 win over Everton.
Solskjaer entered the kickoff at lunchtime and faced increasing scrutiny after a prolonged streak of poor results.
There have been reports that the loss to the Toffees could have spelled the end of his term, with Mauricio Pochettino “waiting behind the scenes.”

“I told you before, I want to talk to you about the start time, before the game, and this has set the guys up to fail.
He added: “Today we have Luke Shaw injured because we have been in Turkey, we have already had many games this season.
“And we were in Turkey on Wednesday night, we come back Thursday morning and we will play on Saturday, the beginning of lunch?
“It’s an absolute disaster and I can’t praise the guys enough for the character they have shown. That’s all I want to talk about today.
“Those guys deserve better than being kicked out here to fail today.”
And Rio Ferdiand and Leon Osman believed the United manager played his media commitments to perfection, changing the narrative surrounding his future.
In the interview, former Red Devils defender Ferdinand said: “His frustration is that the players get injured, but he has also controlled the narrative during that interview. You have talked about what you wanted to talk about and that is something that many top managers have done in the past.
“It takes away maybe from the other things that were happening before the game, but the result is the end and he got the result he needed.”

Ferguson was well known for his mind games in the media and spoke about the importance of press conferences in his autobiography. Similarly, Mourinho has enjoyed a love / hate relationship with journalists, but has always tried to take advantage of them.
“Well, you’ve had your back against the wall, right? There’s no question about that,” Osman added.
“They have talked about the attitude of his players, they have talked about whether they are going to support him and fight for him. Well, as you mentioned there, that interview there, it was an us versus them mentality.
“We’ve seen José Mourinho do it, we’ve seen Sir Alex Ferguson do it in the past and now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done it.”
